Let Them Eat Cake!

Weddingcakes_2

Our favorite publisher, Martha Stewart, lives up to her reputation as the arbiter of stylish entertaining with another beautiful book, Martha Stewart’s Wedding Cakes. Martha collaborated with Wendy Kromer, the master baker and designer who has been wowing us with her fabulous cakes in Martha Stewart Weddings for over a decade. Although the book is not scheduled for release until late December, we received a sneak peek at an advance copy and, as anticipated, it is simply stunning.

We loved the fresh presentations, including expert advice on everything cake-related, from selecting a color palette to deciding what style and flavors are right for you. Pages of gorgeous visual imagery will inspire you with creative ways to display your cake and elegant ideas for every wedding style. Martha and Wendy have also included ways to incorporate family traditions from around the world, and even tips for those adventurous enough to embark on creating their own wedding cake! Whether you are a bride or a devoted MSW fan, you'll want to add this title to your Christmas wish list!

Pacific WEDDINGS™ Celebrates at The White Party

We finally have a sneak-preview from our fabulous White Party held at the Honolulu Design Center on September 6, 2007. While sipping mojitos by Tommy Bahama White Sand Rum, guests enjoyed the screening of Desire, Pacific WEDDINGS' exclusive video by Angel De Armas. Another highlight of the evening was a fashion show in which Tamara Catz unveiled her new bridal collection. Check back for photos of her gorgeous bohemian gowns straight from the runway.

Carmen Emerson-Bass indulged celebrants with her legendary couture cupcakes, and guests received parting gift bags filled with Pure Fiji coconut lotions, Ola Hawaii beauty products, scrumptious Big Island Candies and Auntie Nalani's Cookies.

A special thank you to Savvy Designs for creating fabulous party programs, Scott at Accel Party Rentals, Aloha Ice Sculpting, Yvonne Floral Designs, Visionari and Dave Miyamoto for capturing the evening on film. Enjoy the party shots at pacificweddings.com!

The Real Thing

The Pacific WEDDINGS bride wants her wedding to embody the same timeless elegance and modern sense of style found in the pages of Pacific WEDDINGS. When the planning is all said and done, we are thrilled to share the final outcome in our real wedding features. Has Pacific WEDDINGS played an important part in your wedding plans or those of your clients? Share your story with our editors and you may be featured in the next edition. Shown above is one of our favorite weddings, photographed by Stefanie Riedel.

Film director Jordan Alan's marriage to actress Amanda Righetti played out with the finesse of a Hollywood movie. The handsome couple exchanged vows on the North Shore of Hawaii overlooking a brilliant expanse of ocean, the tumbling waves faintly audible from beyond the estate grounds. The sparkling blue Pacific influenced nearly every element of the event. Amanda designed bouquets of white calla lilies dotted with blue iris, contemporary square vases filled with sand held candles to light each table. The reception area was brimming in candlelight, with tiki torches glowing around the grounds and glimmering candles floating amid white rose petals in the pool. Bouquets of deep blue irises hung above the pool, casting reflections in the aqua-colored water. The dance floor was awash in the soft romantic light of over-sized paper lanterns in shades of blue, white, and sandy yellow. Read on...

Bohemia Boutique!

Bohemia Don't you just love the rush that comes from finding that rare bargain in a seamingly endless clothing bin? Most women would agree that the hunt is far more gratifying than the purchase. Bohemia Boutique satisfies the bargain hunter in all of us, especially us gals with a penchant for vintage. This little gem of a consignment boutique sits on the corner of N. Market and Vineyard Street in Maui's historic Wailuku Town. Owner Maggie (pictured above) stacks pieces from 50's Hawaiiana to sixties retro and even modern day wedding gowns. She says, "I am a slave to vintage, of course, and Hollywood Glamour is my muse!" Frilly cocktail hats and framed art adorn every spare inch of the charming space. Pop in for those last minute retro confections to complete your wedding look—  you may even find the perfect dress!
